Upstaged Right
adapted from an original idea by Yasmine van Wilt
Directed
by Dan James
Cast: Ed Cooke, Miranda Hennessy, Tom Railton
Acting
auditions are never easy, but when Tom turns up at the theatre to interview
for a bar job and gets shown into the audition room by mistake, surely there's
no chance he'll get the part? This comedy of mistaken identity looks at the
everyday choice we face between honesty and other people's expectations. Short,
sweet and laugh out loud funny.

“You have to make an effort to be your own person, don't you?” – Karen
But
does it do any good to try? Karen and Peter and Keri and Peter chase dreams
in the spotlight and monsters in the woods, in a play in two halves about doubles
and opposites, staying and going, falling and jumping, love and fear and choices.

Imagine a newspaper that is only after the worst kind of story: all sleaze and no substance (couldn't be true?). Well that is the case at Global Eye where Misha, the new owner, wants to run it into the ground: turning her PA into the Chief Reporter and digging the dirt on druggie-come-popstar Trent Dyson and his former lover. However she isn't prepared for what happens next... It will make you laugh, it might make you cry - but it should make you sit up and ask what has become of our land and its people.
